18×9.5 Wheels on the G37 Coupe: What Actually Fits
Drop a set of 18×9.5s on an Infiniti G37 coupe and most people brace for a headache. In practice it’s one of the cleaner swaps you can do on the V36 platform. The factory suspension geometry plays nicely with the offset range these wheels typically come in, and 18-inch diameter clears the Akebono Sport calipers on the G37S without any drama.
The bolt pattern is 5×114.3. Center bore is 66.1mm. Those two numbers are fixed. Everything else — offset, tire width, spacer thickness — is where the real decisions happen.
GTC02 (+40mm) vs GTC01RR (+35mm): How They Land in Practice
The two Enkei finalists sit 5mm apart in offset. Close enough that neither is a bad call, but they behave differently at the fender.
The GTC02 at +40mm places the wheel face closer to the hub. At stock ride height it typically sits just inside the fender lip on the G37 coupe. With a 1-inch drop on the Tein Street Basis Z coilovers adding negative camber, the top of the tire tucks in slightly — which on many setups is enough to bring the package flush without a spacer. Owners running +38 to +40 in the rear often report skipping spacers entirely.
The GTC01RR at +35mm pokes about 5mm further outboard. On the front that can get tight against the fender liner under compression; on the rear it usually reads as just proud of the fender lip. A 5–10mm rear spacer generally closes the gap and brings the fitment where you want it.
There’s one thing the offset comparison completely misses: color. The GTC02 only comes in hyper silver and matte black. If the goal is grey or gunmetal — and for this build it clearly is — the GTC01RR in Matte Gunmetal is the only option between these two. As for the availability worry: the GTC01RR appears in Enkei’s 2024 catalog without any discontinuation notice and is stocked at multiple retailers in the 18×9.5 +35 5×114.3 configuration. The concern seems overblown for now.
Spacers: Buy Now or Test Fit First?
Test fit first. Always.
Offset math on paper and actual fitment with a real wheel bolted to your specific car are two different things. Suspension droop, how much the tire stretches onto the rim, and fender liner variations all affect where the rubber actually sits. At +35 you’ll almost certainly want a 5–10mm rear spacer for flush fitment; fronts are less predictable and sometimes clear without one. At +40 you may not need any at all.
Hubcentric spacers in those small increments are cheap, so ordering a set to have on hand isn’t the end of the world. The mistake is locking yourself into a specific thickness before you know what the car actually needs. Fit the wheels at ride height, roll the car, compress the suspension by hand at each corner, check clearance at full lock — then buy the spacer that fits the gap you actually measured.
255 or 265 on an 18×9.5?
Both sizes fit a 9.5-inch rim. The practical range for a 9.5-wide wheel is roughly 245–275, so either is well within spec.
A 265/40R18 gives about 10mm more tread width and a modestly larger contact patch, which helps in dry cornering. A 255/40R18 is a bit more forgiving on fender clearance, particularly after a 1-inch drop where the lower ride height shortens the gap between tire and fender at suspension compression. The speedometer difference between the two is under 2% — irrelevant.
With the drop and added negative camber, a 265 is workable on the G37 coupe but worth verifying before ordering four tires. The method: mount the wheel and tire, set ride height, get the alignment done, then push down hard on each corner and check the gap. A 265 that passes that test at full droop and full steering lock will be fine in daily driving. If rolling fenders is a firm no, start with 255 — the real-world grip difference on a street car is small.
DWS06+ or a Summer Tire?

The deciding factor is cold weather. Summer tires start losing grip around 45°F as the compound stiffens. Below freezing, a summer tire on a 330-horsepower rear-wheel-drive coupe is a genuine safety issue, not just a performance one. If the car runs through fall and into early winter on a single set of tires, the DWS06+ is the correct choice. Full stop.
If the car comes off the road at first frost and only sees April through October, a proper summer tire will outgrip the DWS06+ noticeably in dry conditions. Something like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in 255 or 265 on a dedicated set of 18s is a worthy warm-season setup. But that’s a two-set, tire-storage situation — a different commitment than what this build is describing.
One set, cold mornings, daily driver: DWS06+ is the answer.
